Yes, I have been to this Spanish city before but on this occasion I went on a walking tour of the old city.




This is where where the English pilgrims began their walk to Compostela.

This was a very interesting church, built on the site of a Roman graveyard, replete with one remaining sarcophagus.


St James figures prominently in the church.

Even the entrance features ‘St James with Moor slayer, a latter invention from the time of the Reconquista (driving out the a moors to Morocco.

The statue of the pregnant Virgin Mary was a pilgrimage for women having difficulty conceiving.

The Monastery of St Barbara was next on our agenda.






There were some picturesque squares and gardens on our walk,






And civic buildings too. It was a Sunday so the main square was being prepared for some races.



I then returned to the ship for lunch.
