I have returned from my driving sojourn and I am London as you can see from my last post, I had booked a performance of ‘A Very Expensive Poison’ at the Old Vic theatre.
I’m staying at one of my favourite haunts – St Martin’s Lane Hotel – where I look over towards Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square.
I always set the mood lighting to ‘aqua’ when I am here,
but others choose a more vibrant colour –
For Church on Sunday I chose St Anne’s Soho which was all but destroyed in WW2, and the ‘new’ church is small and modern.
I received a very warm welcome, and a ‘Welcome Pack’ to encourage my return, which I will do.
My Oxford tutor, the Rev’d Dr Keith Riglin, is the assistant priest at St Anne’s and he was taking the service.
I had acquired an extra suitcase in Malvern as it was time to pack up some of the excess books, suit, vestments and the like that were not suitable to drag around Russia. They are going to have a holiday at a bottle shop n Covent Garden where the suitcase will be safely stored until I return. Did you know there is an AirBNB for luggage – BagBNB. I must admit that the new suitcase does have a mind of its own and wants to wander off in a direction of its own, like a Coles trolley. It’s a bit of a struggle to keep it going in a straight line.
I’m off The the Sofitel at Heathrow Terminal 5 as I have an early morning rendezvous with the tour group to Moscow.
Fantastic! I see you are travelling in style.
Enjoy Russia!
