On Sunday 27 January we celebrated Australia Day in our parish at both 8 & 9.30am services. Our liturgy, whilst based on our normal service from A Prayer Book for Australia, augmented by other Australian prayers giving thanks for the diversity which is this country.
We were blessed with preaching by our Associate Priest, Fr Tat Hean Lie, who came to Australia from Indonesia some 53 years ago. This gives those of us who were born here a different perspective as to what Australia means to those adopted by it.
He started with pointing us towards our new neighbourhood patisserie Zimt and their Austrian take on an Australian tradition, lamingtons. His homily was quite engrossing, as always.
