“They’re changing the guard at Buckingham Palace,
Christopher Robin went down with Alice.”
I didn’t see Chris or Alice, unless she was in a burka (plenty of those around), but I did attend to matters of State on my first day here by visiting the palace. The Queen is away in Balmoral, but she left the key under the mat for me.
And I was greeted by the welcoming committee complete with machine guns. I nearly picked out when I saw the queue, even for my booked visit, but I am glad that I persevered as the State Rooms are only open during the summer months whilst Her Majesty is away.
No photos were permitted inside so I pinched these from elsewhere. We walked through the rooms guided by headphones and I must say it was very impressive.
I was able to photograph in the gardens and so an obligatory selfie was in order.
The Queen has her own ice cream shop (who knew).
The walk through the gardens was extremely pretty and I got to see the side of the palace not regularly shown publicly.
I even ended up with this reusable bag suitable for shopping at Coles in Brighton when I get back.
Love the bag! You will be so looked for when you flaunt it in Brighton.
Imagine pausing to have a look at the rooms, it could take a week to look at each one I think.
