The Disasters of War are a series of 82 etchings and prints made by Gita between 1812-1820 and displayed separately and collectively in the museum.
Art historians view them as a visual protest against the violence of the 1808-1814 Peninsula War,
Elsewhere there is a further great collection of Spanish historical art.
