A wing and a prayer

This is Day 4 of my course. Last night we attended echo Rao evensong in Christ Church Cathedral which is part of the college campus.

It was, of course, a Book of Common Prayer (1662) liturgy, with an American choir, Zephyrus, leading the service.

Today, at lunch, a group of us tried to have lunch at the pub called ‘The Eagle and Child’ a favourite haunt of ‘The Inklings’, CHLewis, Tolkien, Charles Williams.

Sadly they completely mucked up our booking, so we left and ate elsewhere. No matter to me because I discovered my friend Brad was in Oxford so I joined him and his host Alan for drinks in Alan’s penthouse

And dinner at a local Chinese restaurant in Jericho, a gentrified area of Oxford, just north of the colleges.

A very smart and unexpected evening.

  1. Dear Ian, we love to have your blogs as you go about your priestly pursuits; Aim going to send a copy to your dear Auntie Jill. We speak on the phone and compare dog notes
