I lucked into an excellent apartment in London, with a lovely courtyard backing onto Green Park, just behind the Ritz.
Compared to my usual Russell Square digs, this is an expansive studio. It is ever so convenient and right next to the Royal Overseas League Club, to which I belong – so I can entertain there and sneak back to my own place.
It’s great having a separate kitchen and a bathroom I can actually fit into. Please a dishwasher and a washing machine so I can do all my laundry before setting off to Spain.
I have has some learning experiences – where the shower says ‘H’ it really means cold and vice versa. And there are no power points in the bathroom (a UK fetish), even the light switches are on the outside,
I have stayed at The Ritz previously but this is much better. There is no value in fancy hotels, I learnt that from my stay at the Savoy – though fortunately that was for a conference.
