Checking in I was told I could use the Emirates’s lounge at Bangkok, something to do with my discounted ticket, which I didn’t realise was discounted. So I went to another lounge, the Miracle Lounge, and paid my way in. It was a very comfortable place to fill in time before boarding.

Getting to the gate was no problem but they do pack a lot of people on one plane

Just as well I was at the front of the queue.

The business class seating was classier than FinnAir but there were a lot of us.

The flight did have internet but it was weak and could do emails and messages but not news sites.
That was not the worst of it though. As we taxied towards the runway the captain noticed some mechanical issue, so he pulled over and mechanics came to fix it. We lost two hours. We hardly noticed as we were drinking and watching movies.

The food was good. I tried the Arab dishes – mezze followed by prawns.

There were a few bumps and I had to preserve my wine.

Of course many passengers were likely to miss connecting flights and I was one of them. This meant that I would have to overnight in Dubai, mucking up the plans I had made for my arrival in London.
